UPDATE on grandma. She is just on lasix now. We still have to clean her eyes daily to keep them from becoming infected. She ended up being allergic to a sweater we purchase for her so found a fleece shirt that isn't causing any problems. She has been switched to Nutro with boiled chicken mixed in and her poo looks great so this must be the match for her. She hangs out with little Squirt that also has sanctuary. He is missing part of his skull. She still sleeps with us every night and always wakes me up if she needs to go potty. She still trots across the yard like she is only 7 instead of 16!! Donations for Grandma's care is always appreciate. UPDATE February 28, xxxx: Grandma is down to 1-3 medications at this time depending on how she is doing that week. We switched her to a new med and it seems to really be helping. She is all over us now following our sounds and smells around the house and crawling up on our leg asking to be held. Such a sweet little girl. I hope to soon get a video of grandma to show you how she follows us around the house and begs to be picked up. She is so tiny, yet so full of love. She is still sleeping snuggled between my husband and me. Her hair looks so beautiful now and is much thicker. If you look at the second photo you can see how thin it is - I will have to get a new picture to show what it looks like now. Third picture is of Gabriel and Grandma outside in the warm air. Gabriel is 12 or so year old retired rancher from Oklahoma. He was in a high kill gassing facility. No rescue No person to save him - so we paid to board - vet - $200 in transport to get him here. He has been neglected. He proposed to Grandma and they are plannign their wedding LOL UPDATE: November 27, xxxx Grandma went to the vet again today. Her tumor has grown quite a bit. Unfortunately it cannot be removed. We will basically be keeping her comfortable until her time comes. Sad news, but a bridge that we sometimes have to cross. Please consider contributing to help with her infection and fluid on her lungs along with a tumor that is infected off and on. Funds are really needed for her continued care to help her fight the fluid on her lungs, infected tooth, and every day care items. Please specify the money is for Grandma and it will all go toward her care. Grandma was given up at the age of 15 and only 3.6 lbs. She came with a house mate - a 3 1/2 year old 3 1/2 legged Maltese that has found a wonderful home. Grandma has been at our rescue about 5 weeks and has been to the vet an average of once every 5-6 days. She is currently fighting fluid on her lungs. Her medication has been switched 4 times. She also needs to have a tooth removed - one of her very few remaining teeth. Unfortunately it is too late to save the tooth. You can see her tumor just in front of her left rear leg. The anesthesia risk is too great for her to have it removed. The tumor is periodically infected and has to be cleaned daily. She has little hair from a lack of flea control. We have purchased two sets of pajamas for her off the Halloween clearance rack. Grandma is a sweetheart. Blind except for a little shadow in one eye. How hard it must be to suddenly lose a home that you know your way around to be placed in a new home with new obstacles. She still hears well and when she hears us talking she comes looking for us and is very successful. She sleeps with us every night - although her sleep is broken with bouts of coughing.
